Yesterday was the bees knees! A very big thank you to Samantha-Leigh Hayward and APSO for a stellar event.

It was such a privilege to represent MPC Recruitment alongside Micki Whitfield while listening to the incredible speakers and catching up with some of the best people in our industry.

Super chuffed to have had a positive mention by Mitch Sullivan for my ad writing entry and to have finally met Steph Snyman. Never something I don't learn from the incredible Vanessa Raath πŸŒπŸ‘©πŸΌβ€πŸ« and Hung Lee, and πŸ‡ΏπŸ‡¦ Ewald Horn (🀑 Style) had me in stitches. So much to take in from Lerato Semenya and Nix Stephens. I can't wait to share your insights with my teams.

Hat's off to Gita Winter - ISM (Individual Staffing Master) for taking home top prize in the Recruiters Unite awards! So well deserved 🀩

Thank you all for a very special day uniting for the betterment of our industry. Let's do it again soon (we'll let Sam take a few days to recover first 🀣)

- Kate Watts

Around this time last year I came across the wonderful Samantha-Leigh Hayward at an HR event where she was promoting her new baby...Recruiters Unite. I couldn't believe that there was an event created by a Recruiter FOR Recruiters in South Africa! πŸ‡ΏπŸ‡¦ So of course, I was there like a bear. 🐻 That was #recruitersunite2023.

Jump ahead a year and I got the honour and pleasure of standing on the stage with legends like Vanessa Raath πŸŒπŸ‘©πŸΌβ€πŸ« and Hung Lee and made new friends with the hilarious (and wonderfully kind) πŸ‡ΏπŸ‡¦ Ewald Horn (🀑 Style), the D&I superstar Lerato Semenya, the incredibly informative Mitch Sullivan and my new TA marketing inspiration Steph Snyman ❀️.

This was the best day. Thank you to all of the wonderful speakers and to everyone who attended! And thanks Jerry Smith for the pic 😁 .

- Nix Stephens

Our Team had the privilege to attend this event in beautiful Cape Town. As we are heading back to Pretoria, we are taking more than just memories back with us - our minds are invigorated, and our perspectives are renewed.

The event reminded us of the significance of our role as recruiters and the pivotal role we play in shaping companies by connecting top talent with employers. Moreover, it highlighted the value of fostering diverse and inclusive cultures, along with having a solid employer brand, as these are essential ingredients for attracting and retaining exceptional individuals.

Thank you Samantha-Leigh Hayward, Hung Lee, Nix Stephens, Steph Snyman, Lerato Semenya, Vanessa Raath πŸŒπŸ‘©πŸΌβ€πŸ«, Mitch Sullivan and πŸ‡ΏπŸ‡¦ Ewald Horn (🀑 Style) for hosting us and your excellent sessions. You are true leaders in the industry, and someone to look up to.

Here's to continued growth, learning, and collaboration as we strive to excel in our roles and make a positive impact in the world of recruitment.

Let's keep pushing boundaries and driving success together!

- Agile People

I had a surprisingly good time at Recruiters Unite yesterday, where I was given the opportunity to tell a captive audience of recruiters how much they suck. Literally the dream of every developer, I know 🀣 Of course, it wasn't just fun and games!

Samantha-Leigh Hayward and APSO put together a really informative and exciting event, with top-notch speakers like Nix Stephens, Steph Snyman, Mitch Sullivan, Lerato Semenya, Vanessa Raath πŸŒπŸ‘©πŸΌβ€πŸ«, Hung Lee and an assortment of sponsors with relevant and interesting products. Oh, and me, you know, the token developer representative candidate.

Thank you Sam, for being brave enough to put a developer on the stage, especially one like me 🀣 I enjoyed the talks, it was refreshing to see so many recruiters working towards improving the industry and the perception thereof.

Weirdly enough, I met some people I could almost tolerate, with some effort, so the day wasn't a complete waste. Plus there was great food, as much coffee as I could put my grubby paws on and a festive atmosphere to boot.

I also made some handy connections that promised me tons of whiskey and treats and bribes, so I'm looking forward to gaining a few kilograms this year - better get cracking with those peeps - I'm ready!

If I forgot to mention anyone, it's probably because you didn't give me a present and that's something you should work on. You can do it, I believe in you.

Lastly, to the recruiters that didn't go, I guess you are part of the problem 🀣

Recruitment Redefined: AI & the Human Touch

Welcome to a new era of recruitment.

Our industry is at a crossroads: artificial intelligence is transforming the way we source, screen, and engage with talentβ€”yet at the heart of every great hire lies something technology cannot replace: the human connection.

This conference is dedicated to exploring how recruiters, HR leaders, and technology innovators can strike the right balance between machine efficiency and human empathy. Together, we’ll unpack how AI can free us from repetitive tasks, empower data-driven decisions, and sharpen our strategiesβ€”while ensuring that authenticity, trust, and meaningful relationships remain at the centre of our work.

Expect thought-provoking talks, practical insights, and honest conversations about the future of recruitment. This isn’t about choosing between AI or peopleβ€”it’s about learning how to leverage both, in harmony, to build stronger teams and more connected workplaces.

Join us as we reimagine recruitment for the future: smarter, faster, and more human than ever before.
